Entries Open For Inaugural Nordic Islands AR

Excitement around the new adventure race on the AR World Series calendar is building as teams get set to enter the Nordic Islands Adventure Race when they open on the 1st November.
The race is scheduled from 12-18 August 2018 and will see 50 teams complete an epic 580km journey, starting in Sweden, crossing the Baltic Sea, Åland, and finishing in Finland.
Race Director Staffan Björklund said “I love history and teams will feel like the Vikings of old as they set out to conquer this race. I have also been a professional athlete for many years and know what teams want when they come to a race - it is time for me to to use this experience and give them an unforgettable adventure.”
The Nordic Island AR will include the disciplines of trek/running, kayaking, mountain biking, packrafting, swim run, roping and navigation. Teams will meet in Stockholm where the race will start.
AR World Series Director Craig Bycroft said “This is the only full Qualifier race in Europe next year and I think entries will sell out. It will be especially captivating for international teams, just check out the promotional video for the race and you will see what I mean!”

While the race this year will span Sweden/ Aland /Finland, Co Race Director Christian Ekström said “We have many exciting ideas for the future and it is for a deliberate reason we called the race the Nordic Islands Adventure Race - we plan to make full use of all the Nordic Islands in the coming years.”
