| In September 2000, my best mate invited me to join him at the Snowdonia ACE race. Having never MTB'd, kayaked or navigated before - I was certainly in for a baptism of fire! Needless to say the navigation was hopeless, I spent most of the 7 hour biking section pushing the bike up hills and down the more technical sections, and as for the kayak section -could we get those inflatable kayaks to go in a straight line! The highlight was getting all of two checkpoints in the night nav! However, Phil Humphreys had us hooked and we haven't looked back since. I can't think of a better way to spend the weekend than to be outdoors doing the things I love. |
