Raid the North Extreme
Four more teams at CP 20
Pat Chan / 28.06.2007

We expect these teams to finish around 4:00 pm. What has happened to yukonWILD? They have been left behind and a very recent report puts them at CP 16 on the bike orienteering section.
Meanwhile it is getting very busy at Base Camp. The local community delivered a huge amount of food for breakfast and now they're setting up to cook all the teams barbecued salmon. There is a great deal of food being prepared for the teams and we know they will be very thankful.
As teams come off the water they have three priorities: dry clothes, a shower and food; not necessarily in that order. They are chowing down on the food provided by the community and being taken to local facilities for a shower. The Skidegate Band sent there shuttle bus to take some racers for a shower and Joan, Dave Hitchon's Mom, has volunteered to shuttle wet, dirty and smelly racers to and from the showers.
Can things get better for the racers? Probably not but the band and Haida Heritage Centre are preparing a special treat. They have a large wooden Haida canoe and they are going to take it out of it's display room and let the racers paddle it around the bay. That will be a sight to see.
