Today’s kit check, registration and briefings have now been completed, with a few shifts in the line-up, and a few interesting excuses. For the team changes, the race is down to 15 teams starting, Bosi Colombia having dropped out due to issues getting visas to come over from Columbia to race. There is also an absence on team Proinde Aventura, who went through the whole of registration as a three and as yet are still awaiting the arrival of a fourth racer. Teams Buff and Teva – La Pinilla – Trangoworld also registered as threes, but being local teams, their respective fourth team members arrived during the race briefing.

Kit check went as smoothly as possible, the teams showing their climbing, kayaking and skating kit, as well as bike lights and some of the less frequently used gear. This category included a yellow reflective vest per person, so they can be tracked more easily for use in the night stages. Air France Industries jokingly claimed they “have no reflectives, because of our religion�. While it raised a laugh from the race marshals, a team member was quickly dispatched to retrieve them from their hotel room.
