Addition to Mandatory Gear For The Race

The Primal Quest Montana Expedition Adventure Race has a new addition to it Mandatory Gear list. Course Director Chris Caul and crew have been working on the course and had a great time trekking in 10\" of snow at an elevation of 9000 ft. This depth of snow does not include the 6\" that came down during the night.

With the presence of this much snow at that elevation Race Management has made the determination to add snowshoes to the Mandatory Gear list. Light weight racing snowshoes are recommended. Yak-Tracks are allowed on the course but can not be replace snowshoes.

Crampons are as yet not required gear. The course will be watched closely and if conditions warrant crampons will be required. While not required, having some form of light weight traction system available in the gearbox would be cheap insurance. Mr. Caul promises to notify teams as soon as a final determination is made.
