The Hebridean Challenge 2008
Day 2 - Rainy Weather (I'm at my tether)...
Pyro / 01.07.2008

Still, the teams would travel a short distance from Lochmaddy to begin the day, first orders being a hill run over the summits of North and South Li, and a road bike/run section up the west coast of North Uist, collecting checkpoints on a two smaller peaks, Aird a Mhorain and Beinn a Shliebhe, before moving on to the ferry slip at Berneray to catch the one hour ride over to Harris. The Lis were overcast and mist-shrouded as the teams set off, and the going underfoot was wet and boggy. “Bog and Ben were the first to return from the 10km run, having run well and clearing the leg in around 1 hour 40 minutes. Othes were less fortunate – Winchester College’s two runners set off 15 minutes behind everyone else as they were late to the start line. One of their pair would return only half an hour later with a minor injury, having decided that while it would have been possible for him to complete the stage, pulling out and resting was the more sensible option.
