Raid Caneo Nature
Briefing and Gear checks
David Ogden - International Adventurers / 27.07.2008

The ride and run which starts the race on Monday in Versailles will be controlled by setting off teams in numerical order , five at a time to avoid possible confusion as they trot around the palace grounds and out onto the course.
Some teams have elected to use two types of kayaks. K2’s on the canal where there are some 30 locks to portage and sea kayaks for the river section where there is low water and also on the sea. K2’s will certainly give advantages of weight and speed. Sails have also been seen setup on the sea kayaks in the hope of favorable winds.
Today was a day for gear checks which included checking race markings were correctly attached and a steady of teams were applying heat treatment to their stickers using a press.
Looking ahead to tomorrow everything is for an excellent race, in fact it is possible that the first team could complete the first stage of Ride and Run and the Mountain Biking and orienteering in one day, however they will need to remember a 30minute penalty will be applied to missed markers in the orienteering.
The Spanish team is in good spirits and plans to finish the race as high as they can. Navigation is their strong point, however they think they will have little chance to prove it as the raid book is quite explicit.
The British team Helly Hansen UK, is in good spirits once again ready to battle with the old enemy.
