WILD IN THE WEST!

With a record number of entrants, teams were keen to see who the competition was this year and the glimmer of sunrise on the horizon heralded the start of registration, with most teams hurriedly planning, organising and preparing for that all important first challenge of the day, which could make all the difference to their race.

At 7:55am a huge field lined up across Karragullen Oval for the first challenge of the day, and after a short brief they were off. The easy starting pace lulled a few into a false sense of security and as the paced heated up a few teams fell before the first level. With hearts pumping and legs raging, the majority pushed onto level 2, but in the spirit of the Teva Adventure Series they had loads of support from the sidelines encouraging each competitor along the way.

Reaching level 2 most teams opted to save their legs and start mid-field leaving just a few hardy soles to push onto the final level. At level 3 all but 3 teams pulled out and we were left to be amazes as Team XYZ bravely went on to take the ‘Last Man Standing’ prize from Mountain Designs.

With just minutes to spare we were ready for the first teams to sprint across the oval, jump on their bikes and head off in every direction into the bush. At TA 12 all was quiet, ready and waiting for the Mixed and Corporate teams to arrive. A flash of orange was seen in the bush and the first teams raced in on their bikes. Goats on Acid led the mixed teams in with Lost in Transition and Freo Shockers following close behind. Pulsation had a short lead over Super Dry in the Corporate category into the TA.
