Stage 1 Highlights - 2018 Perskindol Swiss Epic
334 riders left the race village this morning under clear skies, setting off on a 63km loop, culminating in the main obstacle of the day – a 10km climb back up to the traditional Swiss village (and 1000m of climbing!).
BMC Fischer Price (Martin Fanger & Noah Blöchlinger) struck the first blow in the men’s category, snatching victory by 55 seconds from team Scott-SRAM (Matthias Stirnemann and Andri Frischknecht). After a steady effort, Team BiXS’s Konny Looser and Hansueli Stauffer came third.
Swiss Team Thömus’ Alessandra Keller and Katrin Stirnemann pressed home their advantage to gain 36 seconds and take the win and the leader’s jerseys.
Team Canada’s Catherine Pendrel and Haley Hunter Smith finished second, and GHOST FACTORY RACING’s Barbara Benko and Anne Terpstra finished third.
