The Estoril Portugal XPD Race is an international 24hour race, which this year is being combined with a unique conference to discuss issues relating to the sport of Adventure Racing under the auspices of the Portuguese Adventure Racing Association (APCA).The race will take place on the 9th and 10th December, will last for about 24 hours and will be approximately 250 kilometres long incorporating more than 10 different disciplines (MTB, canoeing, ropes activities, trekking, trail running, climbing, free diving, orienteering, in-line skating.)
The race is part of the Portuguese Adventure Race Cup, which is organised with the support of the Portuguese Orienteering Federation (FPO), who are also closely involved in the conference and clinics being run in the resort town of Estoril, another sponsor of the conference.
The race has attracted some international entries, including Team SOLE, recent winners of Eco-Motion in Brazil, and who will have Petri Forsman racing with them on this occasion. Both team captain Paul Romero and Forsman also organise races, as do many of the other participants. Along with all the best Portuguese teams top Brazilian team Mitsubishi Quasar Lontra are competing, and so are Raid L.V. of Latvia.
