Torpedo7 Spring Challenge North Sets Records

2017 is witnessing Women's Adventure Racing in New Zealand reaching all new levels. Ten Events Ltd, the company behind the successful adventure sporting events and training, including the Spring Challenge events, has raised the bar again with the support of thousands of women.

The South Island event held in Geraldine in September experienced phenomenal interest selling out fast with 600-teams. Unfortunately the event couldn't accept anymore teams and was forced to turn away literally hundreds of teams. 

Thankfully many of those teams that missed out on the South Island have entered the North Island event which takes place in Auckland just 2-weeks later, on October 14th.

New Zealand's most acclaimed Adventure Racer, 5-time World Champion and Spring Challenge Course Designer Nathan Fa'avae is really thrilled with the course options for both events.

"The Southern Alps always lends itself well to adventure racing course design, so the South Island is relatively easy to create quality outdoor challenges. The North Island by comparison has a different set of challenges, which I enjoy. The North Island event in Auckland is going to be superb and I'm particularly excited about being based from Vector Wero whitewater park. It's enabled me to design an exceptionally unique adventure race which I'm wrapped with the final product, it's going to be great" Fa'avae explains.

Adventure Racing is about the road to the event as much as the event itself, providing a goal in the future to work towards. The event itself is about getting outside and being active, embracing challenge, but also demands working collectively in a team to a shared goal. Successful teams have to communicate well, problem solve effectively, strategise, plan and execute. Women often experience a rise in confidence and self esteem from the achievement, they feel purposeful and healthier as a result of the regular exercise.

Event Directors Jodie and Nathan Fa'avae have worked careers as professional outdoor instructors and have a depth of experience in working with people in the wilderness, fostering personal development and impelling people into value forming experiences. Together with their event staff they are motivated to help people make shift and change in their lives, to improve themselves in a caring and supportive environment. 

The Spring Challenge events aim to achieve these outcomes and Jodie & Nathan hope they can introduce women from Auckland who haven't adventure raced before to step up to the challenge, the Wero.

For beginners to advanced, Spring Challenge North & South events will be sensational.

Fa'avae adds "Vector Wero will be the first time ever an adventure race has used artificial whitewater. I don't think you can replace natural rivers, but for this year I reckon this adds a really fun twist, and it's an adventure expereince 100%. I've spent thousands of hours in whitewater in my life and I was blown away by Vector Wero.

Participants in the North Island Spring Challenge this year are in for a real treat, they shouldn't be fooled in anyway that this will be a tame urban event! they will spend 90% of the time in forest, bush, farmlands, park and coastal areas."
