All Set In Menorca For The CamelBak Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º
Press Release / 02.03.2018
It is just a few hours to the start of the fourth edition of the CamelBak Epic Camí de Cavalls 360º, the test of mountain bike and trail running in pairs that will surround Menorca during the next three days. It will do so on their historic Camí de Cavalls, a path created for the defense of ports and now an invitation to meet some of the most charming spots in the Balearic island.
After a thorough preparation, and an epic late arrival for those participants coming from abroad due to the weather conditions disturbing European flights, the 208 participants of the three modalities have met fellow participants this evening in the technical talk and race briefing. It will be the first contact with the race experience, where apart from the competition, coexistence and team spirit will remain in memory. But that will be at the end. Now, onto finalizing the preparations: choosing the materials, fit the backpack, adjust the mechanics of the bike, set the race strategy and rest.
Ciutadella For Starters
So the test will start tomorrow at 08:30 hours from the Tower Castle of Sant Nicolau (Ciudadella) in the MountainBike category and 15 minutes later in the TrailRun one. The participants of the Experience Epic 360º, will depart at 9:45 hours at Far d'Artrutx.
Thus, both cyclists and runners will face path of 45 km and 549 m of ascent, which will pass through the southwest of the island, with its coves of white sand and turquoise waters. It will be a journey through the coast with visits to emblematic beaches such as Macarella, Son Saura, or Cala Galdana, which will meet its end veering towards the interior of the island.
A journey of contrasts that will be gaining altitude through the Mediterranean vegetation and put the participants to the test in their last few kilometers, when the Barranco de Binigaus climbs up to the finish line in the town of Es Migjorn Gran.
Under Alert For The Wind
"Nerves, excitement, but above all a lot of illusion before an event that took months to prepare." These are the feelings of its director, Joan Febrer, which could also be of any of the participants. "We are awaiting the weather forecast, especially of the evolution of the wind, but is expected to be a good day for running and biking in Menorca, so it is not expected to make last-minute changes in the trail".
