Riding The Pioneer Mountain Bike Stage Race

The 2019 Pioneer has a new name, with today’s announcement of Nutri-Grain as naming rights partner to the event, the iconic Central Otago race will now be known as The Pioneer fueled by Nutri-Grain.

The six-day mountain bike stage race will be hosted out of Queenstown from December 1 to 6 this year, with the course set to be revealed in more detail tomorrow (May 1).

Race Director Danielle Sherman is delighted to welcome Nutri-Grain to the Pioneer family.

“We are delighted to have the support of such a respected and iconic brand as Nutri-Grain, they are a perfect fit for The Pioneer, I look forward to growing this stunning event with their support.

“The Pioneer has quickly established itself as one of the world’s leading mountain bike stage races, sitting as part of The Epic Series alongside the Swiss Epic and Absa Cape Epic. Its reputation amongst the international mountain bike community already has it sitting comfortably alongside these two legendary events, with its own unique mix of stunning trails, challenging climbs and incredible hospitality and welcome from the Central Otago region.

“As the event grows and further establishes itself on the New Zealand and international mountain bike calendar, the support of an internationally renowned brand like Nutri-Grain will help us reach more people in more markets and help promote both the event and the region to a global audience.”

Nutri-Grain has for a long time been engaged in endurance sport around the world and news of their involvement with The Pioneer fueled by Nutri-Grain, comes on the back of a three year-extension as naming rights partner to Nutri-Grain IRONMAN New Zealand.

Francis Coulter, Kellogg New Zealand Marketing Manager, loves the synergy between the two new partners.

“Nutri-Grain believes that with courage, strength and determination, anyone can be unstoppable.  Partnering with The Pioneer, we see a strong brand fit with an event that takes incredible commitment, determination and resilience to reach personal goals and achieve as much as possible.

“Lining up on the start to participate in The Pioneer is an achievement in itself that Nutri-grain is proud to support, champion and celebrate.

“By committing to becoming a key partner of The Pioneer, Nutri-Grain is proud to be part of growing the event here in New Zealand and is a great way to help inspire all New Zealander’s and people from all over the world, to challenge themselves and lead an unstoppable life.”
