Live tracking of Root Adventures 'The Night' is happening now!
Press Release / 26.10.2019
From the 25 - 27th October, competitors will be out on an un-suported 50mile survival adventure race ... In the dark!
The NIGHT is the hardest self-navigated checkpoint race on the planet. They are being given the grid reference of a checkpoint and be expected to plot a route and cover the distance in the time given.
When they arrive at the checkpoint (within the allocated time), they will be given a survival-based challenge to complete. Only when they have completed the challenge will they be issued with the next grid reference.
It may be simple, but it's NOT easy…
They have 24 hours to cover around 50 miles and complete 20 challenges. They areunaided, unsupported ... 100% self-sufficient. The race itself started at 05:00 Saturday morning and will run through to the same time Sunday with competitors not meeting the cut-offs being bused back to race HQ.

This is the fourth running of 'The Night' event and only two competitors have very finished the course - so far. Interestingly for this race there is a very tightly defined kit list, anything extra is deemed contraband and can get you disqualified.
Roots Adventure Training has three events in their race series; "The Day'; 'The Night'; and 'The Lost'.
