TransRockies Run
The Build Up to TransRockies 2017
Press Release / 15.08.2017
300+ runners from 18 countries will toe the line for the 8:30AM start (plan to be there early). The weather calls for a high of 75 degrees and partly sunny skies. Runners will gain 2500ft of elevation gain during stage 1.
Excitement continues to build for tomorrow's start to the 11th Anniversary of the TransRockies Run! New faces and seasoned pros will start at Main Street in Buena Vista tomorrow to start their 6-day journey to Beaver Creek through rugged terrain and epic scenery. Grab some food, hydrate, and settle your pre-race jitters and rest up for the best week of your life.
TransRockies Run isn't just a race, but it's a celebration of the outdoors and trail running. Runners of all ages and all speeds will come together to experience this unique trail experience. TransRockies 2017 will be an unforgettable experience and an amazing story for you to tell your friends and family for years to come.
To prep for stage 1 tomorrow (Buena Vista to Railroad Bridge, 20.8 miles), participants listened to a race briefing tonight by the medical crew on how to deal with heat, altitude, storms, blisters, hydration, and safety. Running in the Colorado Mountains brings all types of weather so runners should be prepared for it all - from 30-degree nights to 90-degree dry and sunny days.
Everything is in place and we are excited to see another group of smiling faces for 6 days in the beautiful Colorado Rockies. One quick tip - don't forget to smile - our photographers from Raven Eye Photography will be on course this week capturing all of the action. Thank you to all the staff, sponsors, volunteers and race coordinators who make this event truly possible.
Best wishes to all runners and take in ALL of the beautiful views stage 1 has to offer.
