British Elite Runners Challenge Danes in Danish National Event, Nordisk Extrem Maraton (Danish OMM)

UK Elite runners Shane Ohly and Duncan Archer (Team GB) will be competing in The Danish OMM (Nordisk Extrem Maraton) in the forests of Silkeborg in Denmark, on the 25-26 May 2013. This will give Danish competitors the opportunity to test themselves against these international elite runners.

The Danish OMM (Nordisk Extreme Maraton)
In it’s 11th year Extreme Marathon takes place in and around Silkeborg in Denmark’s Jutland. It was the founding race for trail and fell running in Denmark. The race changes from year to year and has competitors who return again and again. The "mountain race" takes place in Denmark´s largest forest complex and in some of the country's most beautiful scenery. During the 2 days of competition the participants cross hills, stride through valleys, cross bogs and swamps, cross River Gudenåen and experience breathtaking views.
The race has the following classes: X35difficult, X35, X50, and X70 are for 2-person teams. This years new stage is the XT42 - a two day solo trail run over 3 stages.
The overnight camp is always at an idyllic campsite away from registration. Teams are totally self-supporting. Distances cover from 35-90km. In 2013 the organizers expect that the number of participants will double.
The number of international teams increases each year. There are now teams from Sweden, England, Japan and other areas of Europe.
