Icebreaker Introduces Woven Merion Shirts and Shirts
News Release / 16.07.2013
Wellington, New Zealand July 2013) – Merino specialist Icebreaker has broken new ground in fabric innovation with its Spring/Summer 2014 range of woven 100% merino shirts for men.
Icebreaker is also extending its range of woven shorts made from two high-performance natural fibres: merino wool and organic cotton.
The new woven 100% merino Departure SS Shirt and Departure LS Shirt are lightweight, highly breathable to prevent overheating, and resist odour for days – sometimes weeks.
Both long-sleeve and short-sleeve styles have a button-down chest pocket and a back stash pocket. They’re as at home in the outdoors as they are in the city, and the choice of on-trend plaids makes them the perfect go-anywhere shirts.
Icebreaker’s new woven twill shorts are the the Rover Shorts for men, made from 67% merino and 33% organic cotton and the Destiny Shorts for women, made from 52% merino and 48% organic cotton. The cotton adds extra durability and shape to the natural performance benefits of premium merino.
The casually-styled Destiny Shorts have two buttoned back pockets and a drawcord waist, while the Rover Shorts are a longer-length cargo short.
New Zealand-based Icebreaker first introduced merino/cotton shorts in its Spring/Summer 2013 collection. The range was so successful that Icebreaker added merino/cotton pants and a skirt to the collection for Fall/Winter 2013, and is now extending the collection with more shorts styles.
“Icebreaker pioneered the outdoor merino category in 1994, and our woven merino wool shirts and shorts continue our leadership of merino innovation,” says Rob Achten, Icebreaker Creative Director and Vice President of Product. “Our stylish woven shirts take merino to a new level of innovation, while our new shorts give customers a wide choice of pants styles to wear with their Icebreaker merino wool tops.”
