Solo evolves into Solo Stealth, good grip evolves into excellent grip. That's because adidas has tuned its lightweight Terrex Solo approach shoe using the legendary Stealth Rubber compound. As a result, this Outdoor Award winner developed in conjunction with Beat Kammerlander and Bernd Zangerl has developed into an unbeatable partner.
The adidas footwear specialists worked for many months together with Five Ten founder Charles Cole on the development of the first adidas shoe with a Stealth sole. Now, for the first time, climbers, boulderers and alpinists can enjoy the lightweight Terrex Solo approach shoe with Stealth Rubber – the unique rubber compound that offers unbeatable grip. Thanks to the finely-tuned balance between plasticity and elasticity, the rubber virtually flows into microscopic irregularities that can be detected on any surface to provide a perfect bond with the ground. This is clearly ideal for approaches, but also for athletes who spend hours on vertical rock faces drilling, belaying or taking photos and need good grip as well as comfort.
In addition to the unique properties of the sole, the Terrex Solo Stealth also offers low weight and stability. The midsole, which features EVA foam, has been reinforced using a TPU film. In the heel section, special ADIPRENE® foam absorbs impacts to enable comfortable yet dynamic movement, even on longer approaches. Asymmetrical loops are fitted to the heels so that these lightweight shoes can easily be attached with a carabiner to your backpack or climbing harness to hang parallel to each other.
To celebrate the launch of the new adidas Terex Solo Stealth approach shoe, outdoor enthusiasts put the product to the test, including UK no. 1 bouldering champion Shauna Coxsey, adventurer Al Humphrey and climbing photographer Alex Messenger.
