Patagonia - 100% recyclable with the Arbor Pack
Press Release / 26.07.2018
Patagonia is excited to launch its new Arbor Pack Collection! The updated collection features four packs including the Arbor Market Pack 15L, the Arbor Day Pack 20L, the Arbor Classic Pack 25L, and the Arbor Grande Pack 28L.
For the updated Arbor Collection, Patagonia took an original heritage design and stripped away some ecological flaws by moving to 100% recycled materials, which reuses eight and a half plastic bottles per bag, and a solution dyeing process that saves a half gallon of water per bag and produces 96% less carbon dioxide than conventional dyeing methods. Each pack is commuter-friendly, with a padded laptop sleeve and offers ample storage and compartments for organization.
Recycled Polyester
We began making recycled polyester from plastic soda bottles in 1993–the first outdoor clothing manufacturer to transform trash into fleece. It was a positive step toward a more sustainable system–one that uses fewer resources, discards less and better protects people's health.
Today, we recycle used soda bottles, unusable manufacturing waste and worn-out garments (including our own) into polyester fibers to produce clothing. And we offer recycled polyester in a lot more garments, including Capilene® baselayers, shell jackets, board shorts and fleece.
Using recycled polyester lessens our dependence on petroleum as a source of raw materials. It curbs discards, thereby prolonging landfill life and reducing toxic emissions from incinerators. It helps to promote new recycling streams for polyester clothing that is no longer wearable. And it causes less air, water and soil contamination compared to using nonrecycled polyester.
