11.05.2006
With a tough new course, which includes never before used restricted mountain biking areas, an entry of dedicated professionals and enthusiastic amateurs from across Asia, and the full support of its host city, this year’s Action Asia Challenge Macau to be held on Sunday, June 11 will set new standards in adventure racing in the region.

Presented by the Macau Sport Development Board (MSDB) and the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), and organised by Action Asia Events, the Action Asia Challenge Macau is now in its third successful year.

The Action Asia Challenge Macau 2006 will begin at 7am and the race distance will be approximately 42 kilometres and include various course disciplines such as Mountain Biking, Trail and Road Running, Stair Climbing, Orienteering and Map reading, Rock Scrambling, Ocean Kayaking and Rope Work (such as abseiling and Tyrolean traverse). Entries are open for teams of two in various categories, and all applicants must be over the age of 18 and able to ocean swim 100 metres without a life jacket. The entries are limited to 150 teams and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. A mandatory equipment check will be held on Saturday, June 10 at the Official Hotel, The Westin Resort Macau.

Popular local competitor Pedro Ribeiro who, along with team mate Daniel Brown of Hong Kong, last year put in a phenomenal performance to complete the course in just four hours, 32 minutes and 32 seconds, are back this year and set to defend their title. However, word of the event has quickly spread far and wide and, with the arrival on the scene of the awesome Taiwan duo of Suen Jyi Shen and Chen Chung Ren, local hero Ribeiro and Brown will have their work cut out.
