SleepMonsters/Gary Farebrother / 19.06.2006
The event will take place in the Royal National Park near Sutherland, located 32km South West of Sydney. The race will incorporate all the usual endurance, skills and disciplines of previous Kathmandu Adventure races including trail running, kayaking and mountain bike riding.

However there will be an added twist with the introduction of a community service element. This stage will include several tasks in which competitors work with residents from the John Paul Village retirement village in the Heathcote.

Race Organiser, Gary Farebrother believes that ‘This will be the first time in Australia that an Adventure Race Series has introduced a community service aspect into a race format’. With over 200 teams participating in this event, it offers the chance to make a huge contribution to the local community group’, and with 400+ competitors this could be a massive community service, the nature of the service is unknown at present but is sure to be an exciting part of the race.(hope its not a lammington bake off and sale:))

Competitors in mixed or same sex teams of two, will be pushing their navigation, physical and tactical skills’ to the limits in a quest to conquer the course in as fastest time as possible, with winning teams expected to finish around the three hour mark.

Teams will be vying for $3,000 worth of prizes supplied by Kathmandu.
