ACE Races are gearing up for another bumper year, with a new 30 hour race, two training weekends, a new on-line entry system and come the end of the year a new winter series … but before all that they want to jet off to the sun with you for some training.There are still some late places on the ACE Races training camp in sunny, southern Spain if you want to come over all lastminute.gone and give into the urge to leave the British winter climate. They can promise a great location, training advice and races, and relaxation too. It’s all happening at the Club Axarsport International (an hour’s drive from Malaga airport) and costs just £260 (flights excluded) for a week’s accommodation, kayak and map use. The training race is devised by Helen Jackson and Paul Hewitson, who has raced in NZ and USA, and the camp is run by ACE Race competitor Paul Bateson. The set up is all very family friendly – it’s more a training holiday than a training camp!
When he’s finished sunning himself and calling it work, Phil Humphreys will be turning his attention to the Indoor race at the NEC in March (invite only) and will be looking forward to a busy year. In addition to the 3 one-day races and 4 weekend ACE Races he’s planning a new, non-stop 30 hour race in September. Venues have now been announced (and our calendar updated) and both the new 30 hour race and the June ACE Race are British Championship events with ranking points. (Teams of 4 only.)
To make your life easier, and help him manage all this lot, Phil has now responded to frequent requests to allow on-line entry with credit card facility on the ACE Races web site. It’ll be up and running by the end of this week – so what are you waiting for?
[Since this story was first posted we\'ve heard Renault have put up £4000 prize money for the Indoor race at the Outdoors Show in March. Some teams are going to have a good start to the season!]
