Be a T.V. God

Yet another TV company is looking for ‘contestants’ for a series based on endurance competition, and if you win this one you get to be Hercules!

This time it’s a male only competition (not too many women would want to be called Hercules) and is described as the BBC’s ‘extreme olympics’. Very poetically described too:

“ To the foothills of Mount Olympus they came.
Twelve men with one shared goal.
To beat all others in the ultimate test.”

“We are looking for 12 super athletes to push themselves to the very limit over 12 consecutive days. In Greek mythology, Hercules was the only man to make the full transition from mortal to immortal. Now, twelve men from across the UK will compete in incredible events of stamina and endurance to be crowned the new Hercules.2

“Hercules 2003” will tell the story of each day capturing all of the action and all of the human stories that this unique event will generate. This isn’t just the saga of 12 supermen. It’s also the tale of your personal back up teams and families that will support each extreme athlete. They are the human pit crews whose job it is to motivate, massage, feed, coach and push each competitor to the ultimate victory.”

The programme will go out on BBC1 and BBC3 with regional heats in April and the competition running in June. For more information email Beth Mackenzie at Radar Productions Ltd. or call 0207 729 9662.

Will next year’s super team be composed of adventure racers who are ‘Tough Enough for the SAS’, ‘The World’s fittest woman’ and ‘Hercules’? Watch out Saab Salomon!
