Press Release / 12.07.2006
Anyone who has completed mountain marathons or serious mountain biking (MTB) will relish the challenge of the XTERRA Championship event which includes a 1500m open water swim, 34k Mtb route and 10k trail run. In additional there is an XTERRA Sport course which is shorter and includes a 750m swim, 17k Mtb ride and a 5k run.

Timed for the weekend of the 2nd/3rd September 2006 in the Neath Valley in South Wales, XTERRA is an off-road triathlon concept which has been in the States since 1996 and is one of the fastest-growing multi-sport series. XTERRA boasts 90 races annually in the Nissan XTERRA Points Series in the United States and the Global and European tours with championships in Saipan, New Zealand, South Africa, Japan, Italy, Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, Spain and now also the UK, France and Denmark.

A decade since the inaugural event XTERRA is now being held for the first time in the UK. The location is the challenging terrain of the Vale of Neath where competitors will swim, cycle and run in the stunning environment of a beautiful, forested glacial valley.
