Races – North, South, East and West
Rob Howard / 01.09.2006
The first weekend of September is one of the busiest race weekends of the year. The ‘coming next’ box on our home page lists the next 10 races on the calendar … and all are on this coming weekend. It’s not often that happens and the rest of September is equally busy. For Scottish racers the second Wan Dae race in the Carron Valley will be the attraction, in Wales the first ever UK Xterra takes places and across the Irish Sea the first ever Gael Force race festival will be taking place, based in Westport.
In the heart of England the final ACE Races one-day event takes place on the heaths of Cannock Chase, the last one to be organised by Phil Humphreys. The following day the first of the Helly Hansen sponsored one-day race series starts in Ashdown Forest, and there are big trail runs in the Lake District, a bike ride on the South Downs and a Quadrathon in Wales. It’s a multi-sport bonanza this weekend.
Later in the month the final 2-day ACE Race of the year is somewhere in Scotland and the Wan Dae series also wraps up. The endurancelife Classics and rebranded Dynamic Adventure events are back after a summer break too.
Watch out for lots of race reports coming up, and wherever you are racing enjoy the weekend. Looking at the weather forecast it will probably be a very muddy one!
