The North Face Endurance Seven Challenge. Marathon 1
The North Face / 28.09.2006
In driving rain, running on a hiking track in Queensland\'s Hinterland, Andrews set out on the inaugural event at midnight in order to complete the first leg and adhere to the strict schedule of the event. Following the completion of the marathon, Andrews support crew immediately headed for Gold Coast airport, Andrews having to recover in transit.\"I knew I had to run pretty close to four and a half hours, \'cause we had a 6 am flight to Alice Springs for the second leg. I was pretty happy with the time, but we will see how I pull up tomorrow.\"
While most of us are happy to finish a road marathon complete with markers and marshals, Andrews is attempting seven consecutive off road marathons on tracks navigated by Magellan GPS. The first leg saw driving rain and treacherous conditions as Andrews negotiated the trail with a LED head lamp and increased support crew.
