Great Ocean Road Adventure Awaits
02.11.2006
The southern coast of Victoria, Australia is where the wild seas of Bass Strait meet the dramatic rock formations strewn along the Shipwreck Coast. Behind this majestic and remote coastline lies some of the most pristine temperate rainforest in the world. This is the location for the Great Ocean Road Adventure Race. The event is a 400km odyssey that will require teams of two to draw on various off-road athletic skills, as well as the ability to navigate and race at night.
Disclosed to racers only 24 hours before race start, the spectacular course will take athletes through wild coastal & national parks. Champion adventure racer and Race Director John Jacoby says, “I have raced in a lot of big races around the world, and it’s a real bugbear of mine that in most races there are sections included merely as a “linking leg†to get to the next stage.
Fortunately, the remoteness of this area has enabled me to set a course designed for maximum enjoyment, where every leg has a unique challenge and is a great experience in its own right.â€
