World Championships In Scotland Oversubscribed
Rob Howard / 04.12.2006
As expected entries for next years ARWC2007 in Scotland quickly passed the 45 available places, but teams can still apply to take part if they feel they meet the selection criteria. With exceptional interest in the race, and over 80 teams expressing an interest in taking part before entries opened it was no surprise when entries were made within seconds of the online entry system opening at 07.00 GMT last Friday. By Monday morning a flood of entries had come in from around the world and the race was oversubscribed.
Race Director Phil Humphreys has now put in place a timetable for allocating places using the ARWorld Series selection criteria, which begins with the first 10 teams being offered places by Friday Dec. 8th. The timetable will then be as follows:
Mon 11th Dec - Fri 15th Dec ... 10 team places offered
Mon 18th Dec - Fri 22nd Dec ... 10 team places offered
Mon 1st Jan - Fri 5th Jan ... 10 team places offered
Mon 8th Jan - Fri 12th Jan... remaining team places offered
When a team has been offered a place, they will have 10 days to pay their deposit of £800 in order to secure their place and this is fully refundable up until 7th March. (This was previously set at 28th February, but this date has been put back until after Bergson Winter Challenge.)
Clearly any teams still planning to enter should do so as quickly as possible to increase their chances, the longer they wait the less places are available. This includes teams who have won a guaranteed place already through the World Series or plan to try and win a place at the Bergson Winter Challenge or Bimbache Extrem in Spain. They still need to get their entry in to try and secure a place.
Teams who have already entered are being contacted by the organisers now, and by mid-January the race line-up will be complete.
