An exciting caliber of adventure racers from around New Zealand are lining up to compete in Queenstown’s newest adventure race, the Queenstown 45 Adventure Race to be staged at Easter 2007.

New Zealand’s highest ranked international adventure racers and world champions, Nathan Fa\'avae and Richard Ussher have indicated they plan to race at the event either as a two man team or with a team. Fresh from their recent win at the 24 hours of Southern Traverse, Ussher says it’s great to have another opportunity to race in the spectacular Queenstown terrain.

“We certainly have the new Queenstown race in mind and we are hoping to be able include it in our schedule for next year or we may use the opportunity to showcase a ‘new look’ team who will be racing under the new teams banner.”

The Queenstown 45 Adventure Race will cater for two and four person teams (men, women or mixed) and be run over three days providing both a challenge for all levels of adventure racers from elite through to beginner.

Race director John Knight says there has been an incredible response from New Zealand racers to date. “I have been pleasantly surprised at the number of people who have emailed or contacted us to say how much they like the new concept and in particular the fact that the race course is going to be achievable for those starting out or mid range adventurers.”

“We said from the start that we want this race to be achievable and that’s certainly gained a lot of interest from men and women who want an adventure race where they won’t be destroyed in the process, as is the case i some of the larger events which can be very, very tough.”
