Adrenalin Rush Entries Now Open

Rob / 23.11.2003
Adrenalin Rush, Europe\'s best known expedition adventure race, will take place between May 22nd-29th in 2004 and entries are now open on the redesigned AsportsOne web site.

The race attracts teams from all over the world to pit themselves against the elements over a course extending up to 300 miles (500km).
Race Director Brian Elliot said, “Adrenalin Rush is an extreme challenge that demands respect and determination. Teams are confronted with many choices and competitors require good physical fitness and the mental agility to resolve problems under constant stress, with limited food and sleep. They are on a journey of survival and discovery, and how they react determines their chance of survival and success. And in this race to finish is success, to win is exceptional.”

The location for the 2004 event will be somewhere within the British Isles and an announcement of the exact location will be made in early February. There will be a new twist to this year’s course, which will be unlike any other Adrenalin Rush so far, it will be a journey with a different objective.

The mixed sex teams of 4 will race unsupported over challenging and varied terrain, and disciplines will include: mountain trekking, mountain biking, ascending and descending fixed ropes, swimming, kayaking and challenging navigation. For 2004 the Adrenalin Rush will also introduce a new discipline never before used in an Adventure Race. It will test teams belief in their abilities to the full.

The entry fee for 2004 remains at £1,500.00 per team. The only additional cost on top of this is for meals. Accommodation at the tented village is provided free and as an unsupported race teams do not require support crews or hire vehicles. All gear boxes, mountain bikes and any additional equipment are transported by Adrenalin Rush staff to the transition camps, and kayaks are supplied.

Full details are now on www.adrenalinrush.co.uk and teams should enter using the on-line registration form so that further information can be forwarded to the team captain. Places are limited so early registration is highly recommended.

A Race Apart

Brian Elliot has also added this comment. “Adrenalin Rush is not a qualifier or qualifying round for any other Adventure Race or Adventure Race Championship and is not part of any series.”

This is no doubt prompted by the confusion over the fact Adrenalin Rush was formerly a qualifier for the ARWorld Series, but has withdrawn from the series in 2004. However, it seems that as far as qualification for the World Finals at Raid The North Extreme next August are concerned teams who won a free or guaranteed place in the past 2 Adrenalin Rush races will get their entry.
