Corsica Raid Adventure 2007 to take place June 2nd to 6th

Jacqueline Windh / 19.01.2007
Corsica Raid Adventure is one of the longest-lived adventure races around. The first edition took place in 1994, and since then the event has run every year except for one.

This year’s race, June 2nd to 6th, will take full advantage of the climatic diversity that Corsica has to offer. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, south of France and just west of Italy, the island has climates that racers will get to see first-hand, including snow-covered mountains, open desert, and ocean coastline. Race disciplines will include canyoning, coasteering, mountain biking, trekking, ropes, and orienteering, as well as a few unique surprises – check out their website for the details.

This year’s adventure race is open for teams of two or three. Two-member teams require a support person with a vehicle. Three-member teams will have to have two racers on the course at all times, with the third person (and vehicle) alternating as assistance and racer. Team reporters are welcome to travel with the assistance vehicle.

The four and a half-day race also offers two separate categories of competition. Teams in the Expert competition will race non-stop, while those in the Discovery competition will follow a similar, but shorter, course – and so get to benefit from a bit of recovery time between stages. There is also a separate two-day competition for corporate teams of two to five people (Enterprises competition).

Entry is 500 Euros per person (or 400 Euros before February 28). Prizes are in the form of gifts and gear. For more details, go to www.corsicaraid.com.
