The Mountain Adventure Race (MAR) is on for 2007

Formally the Big Sky Breakdown, MAR is set for July 30- August 4, 2007. This is an expedition length adventure race, which runs through themajestic mountains of Montana. The website for the event is www.mountainar.com - and will be live February 7, 2007. The race is for teams of two or four, but the prize money will be for the traditional four person coed teams only. The previous www.bigskybreakdown.com website is currently active and an overview of the race can be found there for now. Registration will be open February 15, 2007
The course is 250-300 miles in length traversing remote regions in southwest Montana near Yellowstone National Park. This is a perfect setting for adventure racing and the mountain biking is world class with routes that go to the tops of some of the areas tallest mountains. Screaming descents will challenge your skills and put grins on your faces. Trekking in this race will take you through remote forests with numerous navigation options. Finding the fastest line will be a challenge that will tax your teamwork and route finding skills. If you like the fresh air of exposed ridges, no worries, there are miles of exposed ridgelines that will leave you in awe. The race also includes adventures on the regions rivers first explored by Lewis and Clark. There is an orienteering leg and rope work near the summits of the regions highest peaks.
