ACE Races – The Detail

ACE Races is entering its 10th year under the management of Details Events after the retirement of founder Phil Humphreys (as an organiser), and they are promising ‘to uphold his great tradition by offering the same great races, camaraderie and the opportunities for career points†in the year ahead.All the event details have now been updated on www.aceraces.com and there are some new faces and innovations to add the existing ACE Races mix.
The 2007 series will be in the capable hands of Nicky Ffrench Blake, herself a past ACE Racer. Nicky is also a veteran planner of Challenger World events, as well as a rock climbing instructor, accomplished mountaineer and skier.
Nicky will be leading the ACE team in 2007 and will also be the course designer and race director for the summer 2 day North of England event, and as such the first female AR Director and Planner of a complete UK AR event.
Anthony Emmet will be the man with the maps for the 1 day Series, himself an old hand at ACE Races and something of a celebrity fixture in the UK AR scene, in respect of his many different talents, not least his stunning rise from ACE 1 day newbie in 2001, to World AR Champs 10th place finisher in 2006!
John Laughlin, planner of the last September 2 day event and the Scottish Wan Dae Series in 2006 will again be planner for the South of Scotland 2 day event. For the Welsh event an \'athlete of some repute and character\' has come forward to plan and direct, so expect to be run ragged for that event! Scott Alexander, a familiar face at ACE base over the years will support the team as logistician and transitions manager.
