Each team will also have a support crew in hot pursuit – creating a moving city of trailers, campervans and cars, as they race past some of the country’s most stunning locations.The field includes some of the world’s best adventure racers including entrants from New Zealand, the United States and Brazil. Of note:
·Richard Ussher (2006 world champion) and Gordon Walker (2007 world champion), both from New Zealand and favorites for the event
·Guy Andrews (former Ironman champion)
·Jarad Kohlar (winner Anaconda Adventure Race, Lorne 2006)
·Damon Goerke (record holder as fastest white man over the Kokoda Track)
The field also includes athletes from several sporting backgrounds including a team of young women with a one-day adventure racing background, a team of older males with an orienteering / rogaining background, husband and wife teams, triathletes, paddlers, mountain bikers and Ironmen. Both Hamilton and Torquay are among the ‘local’ towns represented in the event.
The Keen Adventure Race kicks off at Port Campbell on Tuesday, March 13 at 3pm with a two-hour prologue that will determine seedings for the remainder of the week.
