Media Accreditation Opens for 2007 World Championship in Scotland

The organisers of the Wilderness ARC, the 2007 Adventure Racing World Championship, being staged in the Scottish highlands from 24 May to 2 June 2007 (race starts 26 May) have announced that applications for media accreditation to cover the event are now open.The event is already attracting a huge response from the international media and adventure racing enthusiasts and is expected to boost tourism and visitor numbers to Fort William and Lochaber, one of the most spectacular and dramatic regions of the Scottish highlands. TV coverage is already in place and the event will be the focus of a 1 hour special to be aired on Channel 4 in the UK and syndicated internationally.
Jim Mee, Media Director for the AR World Championship 2007, said: “Visiting journalists and photographers can expect a warm reception from Scotland and from the event media team. As well as the hugely aesthetic nature of the course and the excitement of top teams competing hard, the media operation being run at the event will be world-class.â€
The media hub at event HQ will be fully wirelessly networked for high-speed transfer of data back to news-desks. The event will provide daily reports, team testimonials, news updates and press materials for worldwide release as well as high resolution imagery daily for rights-cleared usage. All of these materials will be available for download from the event’s own virtual server.
