The organisers of PyACha, the Pyrenean race series, have released dates for the first 2 races for 2004. The Spring Race will be on the Easter weekend 10/11th April 2004 and the Summer Race on the 19/20 June 2004.Both will be held in Andorra again but in an exciting new area, Pal-Arinsal. This area is known as a the First Mountain Park of the Pyrenees, so it promises to offer lots of options for the organisers, Montgomery One Ltd.
Planning for the Spring Race will include the likelihood of snow based activities and as Ian Montgomery, Series Director commented, \"Pal-Arinsal is known as one of the best ski areas within Andorra and we will be using the natural terrain and conditions to our advantage. Course planning is currently underway and we are contemplating a little border hopping - so bring your passports!\"
The 2004 series follows on from the successful race run in September 2003. However the organisers have listened to all the feedback from racers and support crews and intend to implement some of the suggestions. For example, for the Spring Race, there will be no obligatory requirement for support crews, although the more people brought along to support the better!
Also, close attention will be paid to allowing the slower teams to move more easily from section to section, enabling all levels of racers to take part. As Ian said, \"We had a great race but quite frankly, some teams thought it was a bit too tough - we want to make sure that everyone can have a go. That\'s why this time it will be much simpler to allow teams to skip sections\".
As before, two and three person teams are eligible, however the three person teams do have to be mixed.
More details will be put up on the website www.pyacha.com in the coming weeks and the organisers are also close to finalising the dates for another Summer Race at the end of July and an Autumn Race at the end of September.
