The Dream Raid returns
07.04.2007
In November 2007, the Dream Raid is back in New Caledonia, an remote island that has a variety of wild landscapes. With abundant wilderness and a mosaic of people and cultures, and located 1,500 km from Australia and 1700 km from New Zealand, New Caledonia is the 3rd largest island in the Pacific. Its lagoon is one of the world’s largest (24,000 km2)."La Grande Terre ", the biggest island of the archipelago, is divided by a mountain ridge where wild places still remain. On one side, the West coast is characterised by the niaoulis savannah : a paradise for stockmen. On the East coast, the mountain slopes plunge into the lagoon and the tropical forests lie next to nickel mines in a striking contrast of colours. Untouched sceneries are still to be discovered.
From south to north, between land and sea, walking, riding, paddling, cycling, or climbing, 20 international teams are going to live the third edition of the Dream Raid, an exceptional adventure through the island – taking place from the 5th to the 11th November 2007,
In total freedom, through rocky, rough regions, mysterious places, they are going to follow unpredictable torrents notched in the mountains of the “Chaine Centraleâ€. They are going to rush down gushing waterfalls. They are going to sail with the trade winds, on the blue water of the lagoon, under the infinity of the sky, through coral and small white sandy islands, in the mangrove, through the strong and knotty roots. They are going to walk in the deep silence and the darkness of the “rainforestâ€.
