Questars Head for the Alps

Rob / 30.12.2003
The Questars team have been busy planning for 2004, and have another full race programme, a new Alpine race for those into skiing and boarding, and a new, much improved, website to put all this information on.

Their Alpine race is a new departure and will take place at Flims Laax in Switzerland (90 mins from Zurich) over the weekend of 6/7th March. If you want to have a go it means packing your gear for a flight and swapping your bike for some skis or a snowboard! Both Saturday and Sunday stages will be orienteering on ski/board and there will be a night navigation stage on foot as well.

The organisers are saying all checkpoints will be able to be reached on downhill skis, but there will be times when it’s quicker to walk up to a checkpoint rather than take the lift – the decision is yours! They are setting the course with an intermediate skier/boarder in mind and entry for the two day event is £60 per person or £200 per team of four.

Their more traditional UK programme encompasses 8 races, set as far afield as Devon and the Lake District, and running through the year from Feb. 1st to November 28th. Six are one day races and there are 2 themed weekend events. The first is in Wiltshire in May and is called, ‘Search 4 White Horses’ and the second in in Devon in September, and this one is billed as a ‘coast to coast’ event. As usual the format is very flexible, allowing teams of 1,2,3 or 4!

Information on all the races is on the new website, which has the same url as before. It’s a lot easier to navigate than the old site and has on-line entry, galleries and all the information you’ll need.
