Rock and Ice Ultra Registration is now Open

Registration for the second annual Rock and Ice Ultra, scheduled to take place March 22 – 27, 2008, is now open. The event will be held in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories Canada and will once again be hosted by the Yellowknive\'s Dene First Nation and be sponsored by BHP Billiton, the world\'s largest resource exploration and development company.The Rock and Ice Ultra features three winter endurance races; The Cold Foot Classic, a 75 km continuous race; The K-Rock Ultra, a 135 km 3 day / 3 stage race; and the Diamond Ultra, a 225 km 6 day / 6 stage race. Competitors can run and snowshoe or xc-ski.
Once again racers will be competing for the most unique purse in endurance and adventure racing; genuine Canadian Diamonds direct from BHP Billiton\'s EKATI Diamond Mine, Canada\'s first Diamond mine. Winners and media will be flown North into the Canadian barren lands and will be presented their diamonds on site at the EKATI Diamond Mine.
New to the event is the Athlete\'s Village, a tent city set up on Yellowknife Bay where athletes can reserve a \'bunk and breakfast\'. Details of the Village are ever evolving so check the website for details. There are a limited number of tents and bunks so reserve your bunk soon.
Canadian North will once again provide racers with sponsored airfare rates departing out of Edmonton, Alberta; $510 return (taxes included).
