Part of a National Series of Anaconda Adventure Races with races in Queensland, NSW, Victoria and WA, the location at Dunsborough was chosen for the spectacular landscape and challenging off-road attributes that will tantalise the senses of all competitors. Busselton Shire, EventsCorp, and the Department of Sport & Recreation have all been instrumental in securing the prestigious event for the region.

As a sport that appeals equally to Surf Ironmen, Triathletes and Adventure Racers, the Geographe Bay race will see surf ironman star Guy Andrews returning to defend his crown against a trans-Tasman challenge spearheaded by New Zealand’s Adventure Racing World Champions Richard Ussher and Gordon Walker. Triathlon supremo Peter Robertston will also be making his Adventure Racing debut. The race will draw athletes from a range of other sports, such as basketball legend Luc Longley, who will be competing in a relay team with the objective of having maximum fun. Average people of every age and shape will make up the majority of the field in the relay teams category, with the youngest competitor at 13 years of age and the eldest nudging 70; all will be looking to satisfy their outdoors addiction by taking on the challenging course that comprises a 1.8km ocean swim, 12km ocean paddle, 13.5km trail/coastal run 22km mountain bike and 1.8km beach run to the finish line in Dunsborough. A Corporate Teams category will also see up to 100 WA companies vying for the title of Corporate Adventure Race Champions
