The Anaconda Adventure Race on the Gold Coast is held over a cracking course – far from the glitzy high rises most people associate with the region. Instead it starts with a spectacular ocean swim, a scenic ocean and then river paddle, before a challenging run up (and through !) a creek bed then over a mountain range, and arguably the best mountain bike course of the series – a ripper along the border track and back down to the beach where it all began.

As for the Forster epic, if you are still putting this off you obviously have not been to the real Forster. Rainforest and single track, glassy smooth lakes and pelicans, cliffs and crystal clear waters, remote beaches and the enormous sand dunes: this course has it all!
