NEW EVENT in Ontario - KEEN Adventure Sports Games

KEENÂ® Canada and Adventure Racing Canada have just introduced their newest event to take place this September 15th and 16th in Collingwood, Ontario. The event is called the KEEN Adventure Sports Games ~ A Multi-Sport Festival ~, and will bring the term adventure to a whole new meaning.

Participants can challenge themselves in one or more of the seven races taking place on the weekendâ€¦including a x-country mountain bike race, trail runs, canoing/kayaking races and navigation races on foot and bike.

There will also be three adventure race events including paddling, mountain biking and trial running/trekking: a one day Multi-Sport Stage Race (marked routes) and a one day Adventure Stage Race (with navigation). All races are for teams of two (or soloists), and with each race being run in stages, participants can be self-supported.

The most adventurous racers can test their strength and endurance by competing in all seven events for an opportunity to win a trip to Australia to compete in the 2008 KEEN Alps to Ocean Adventure Race. The winners of the KEEN Ultimate Adventure Challenge will be flown to Australia with roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations, and their entrance fee covered. With a total value of $10,000. This adventure will be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Starting on Friday September 14th, the Hill Climb Relay will be taking place in hopes of raising money for various environmental and trail maintenance groups that are a vital component for outdoor adventure in the Collingwood area. The relay will consist of the teams ascending the Blue Mountain ski hill on a freshly built and marked hiking trail, and descend on the ski lift back to the village. Once back in the village, participants will tag their team-mates who will begin their own ascent of the mountain. For â€œfive cents a footâ€ these teams are encouraged to raise approximately $125 / team.
