The Vaude HIghland Fling and Urban Polaris

Talking about the Train-ing plan, Event Director Huw Kingston said: ‘As well as being a great relaxed way to get to the event, this is part of our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of the event. A few hundred people travelling by train is a few hundred less cars making the journey. All this helps in our efforts of making the event Carbon Neutral. The train will have seats for riders and covered vans with bike racks for bikes along with a buffet service. There will be enough room for 250 people so we hope entrants will hop aboard and invite friends and family along for the ride. The train leaves Central Station on Saturday 10 November and departs Bundanoon on Sunday 11 November after the race. Whilst entrants come from all around the country Sydney is the largest single market for the event so it made sense to trial a train from there. We’re sticking our neck out here and just hope the bike community will support the initiative but we’ve no idea until we put it out there! Hopefully the Fling Express will become a much sought after option for the VAUDE Highland Fling in the years to come’
With some 3 months to the event, entries are 2/3 full with a maximum number of 1300 riders at this years event. Full event details can be found here.
Major Sponors of the 2007 Vaude Highland Fling are Vaude, Virgin Blue, Specialized, Ground Effect, Forests NSW,
