Earth’s richest adventure is coming this summer, but you can get the free T-shirt now!

This July the world’s top teams will head for Telluride in Colorado to compete in the Primal Quest expedition race, chasing a $250,000 prize fund. Full details are already up on a very impressive web site, and as an incentive to register on the site they are offering a free race T-shirt.

Just tap in you details and they say your shirt will turn up 6-8 weeks later, and as far as we can see this generous offer is open to anyone worldwide. We’ve ordered ours, but having had experience of similar promotions on the web we know these things can get seriously out of hand – so our advice is to get in quick before they withdraw the offer.

As for the race, it’s a mouth-watering prospect. Most of the world’s top teams are already signed up, and with no World Championship race in 2002, and no news of where or when from the folks at Eco-Challenge, Primal Quest could be the race of the year. The big bucks have certainly attracted the top teams and at the moment it looks like Team 9feet.com are the only U.K. entry – though that’s yet to be confirmed. (The team name will probably change too as 9feet is now a dot.gone.)

The course is going take between 5-10 days and in the Rocky Mountains can’t fail to be spectacular. There are some big plans for the webcast too, and for following the action as-it-happens on a big screen in the race stadium. It’ll be a first if they pull it off, but is adventure racing really suited to a stadium audience? You might also need a pretty fast connection to follow things if the flash movie on the site now is anything to go by – but it is really impressive and well worth waiting for.
