Stan van Jaarsveld / 02.09.2007
The Adventure 6; Rollo’s 6 hour adventure race is less than two weeks away and the organisation has added an extra class for those who do not have a kayak; the Adventure Dualthlon class.Duathlon teams will still race the same course but without the kayaking section. This will make the race slightly shorter for this class.
Earlier Adventure Nelson already added another class at the Adventure 6; the Triplets. This option will be for ladies who are competing at the Spring Challenge, organised by Mission Events in Hanmer Springs on September 29th. Giving them a chance to have a shakedown before the Spring Challenge.
The Adventure 6 is designed as an introductory adventure race for the first timer while being a sprint event for the experienced. This years 6HOUR will be a "Go & Get" format. Together in couples or four person formation teams will need to reach the required checkpoints' (CP's) by either kayak, mountain bike or by foot. They can collect them anyway they can, first team to collect them all the quickest will win. Checkpoints can be collected in any order, However they must all be collected. If teams are back too soon they will be given a extra stage to complete.
Checkpoints are given as grid co-ordinates and will be given together with the out of bounds areas, 30 minutes prior to the start of the race on Rabbit Island, September 15th.
