Malaysia’s Eco-Games Championship moved to April 2008.

Malaysia’s Eco-Games Championship, a 5-day adventure race, has been postponed from its original October 2007 date to early next year. The race dates are now tentatively set for March 30 to April 4, 2008.

Max Quest’s Managing Director John Zevgolis explains the delay. “The postponement was made in order to make the event the truly international adventure race that we have been planning for, and to give both sponsors and racers adequate preparation time.”

The Eco-Games Championship offers US$200,000 in prize money. It is open to experienced international AR teams, as well as to Malaysian teams who have qualified through the two Malaysian races (Kenyir, May 5-6 2007; and Johor, July 14-15 2007). The championship race will take place on the exotic tropical island of Langkawi.

The championship race format will be a five-day staged race, open to mixed-sex teams of four. The course (approximately 380 km in length) has been designed by Sylvain Thuault (renowned designer of the Raid World Series courses) and Darren Gamble, working in close association with the crew from Langkawi itself.

The big prize money will undoubtedly attract some of the world’s top teams – but registration is limited to only 50 teams.

Organizers are asking for input regarding the tentative new dates, March 30 to April 4. To give your input, or to keep up-to-date on the news, keep an eye on their website: www.maxquest-ar.com
