Entries for the Keen Adventure in Australia are now open
News release / 22.09.2007
The second instalment of the instant adventure racing classic - the Keen Adventure Race began accepting entries on 17th September with a $200 entry fee discount offered to those who enter before 30th September.
The Alps to Ocean edition of this epic adventure will see an international field navigate from Victoria’s spectacular alpine high country, working their way southwards to complete the 5 day staged adventure racing course at Lakes Entrance at the Southern Ocean. New Zealanders Richard Ussher, Gordon Walker and Ian Edmond with his partner Nora Audra are expected to take their places at the start line on 8th April, 2008 to defend their titles whilst vying for a stake of the $30 000+ prize money.
“The Keen Adventure Race was an experience that every world class athlete would love to be part of… We are really looking forward for next year’s event and we are sure that those who couldn't make to the 2007 event will definitely put all efforts to be there in 2008.†Nora Audra (Brazil) & Ian Edmond (NZ), First mixed pair, Keen Adventure Race 2007.
The 2008 version sees some important changes: the new category, "2 of 3" (where teams of 3 compete with only 2 racing at a time) allows a self-support option using their spare (resting) team member instead of using up friendship credits. Also, entrants can take advantage of Rapid Ascent’s boat hire and transport service so that logistical headaches are not part of the pre-race challenge. The course will suit those who enjoy racing in alpine country and fresh water paddling perfectly.
If you are thinking about entering, you’d be daft not to do it now so that you can get yourselves the $200 discount along with first come, first served benefits for access to Rapid Ascents boat hire, transport and support crew finding services.
See the event website www.keenadventurerace.com for more information and to enter online now.
