Storm the Ten

This weekend’s Axis Gear Storm the 10 will see over 200 racers descending on Milton Ontario’s Kelso Conservation Area, in this the inaugural year of the event.

Similar in many ways to the immensely popular 8 or 24-hour mountain bike relay formats held throughout the province, this new race concept combines the multi-discipline excitement of adventure racing with the fun and social atmosphere of a relay endurance event. Solo racers and teams of 2, 3, 4 and 6 will paddle, run and bike through a short-course adventure race as many times as possible within a 10-hour time frame.

While the total distance of the overall course will be just over 10km, the multi-transition format is expected to draw out average lap times to at least an hour. Teams will complete each lap in pairs, tagging off at a central transition area at the heart of the racecourse. Hosted at one of southern Ontario’s best-known mountain bike destinations, this event will compact all of the best elements of a classic adventure race into a 980-acre park. Situated at the heart of the majestic Niagara Escarpment, Kelso Conservation Area had for years been host to numerous 24 Hours of Adrenaline events, and with its 50-acre lake, 5-lift ski hill and extensive network of singletrack, is virtually custom-made for this exciting new race format.

Axis Gear STORM the 10 is the newest creation of Storm Racing, producers of Canada’s largest multi-sport adventure events. Full details are available at www.stormevents.ca
