Registration Now Open--Swamp Stomp 2008

09.11.2007
The Swamp Stomp 30-Hour Adventure Race is back for the fifth year. The event will move south in 2008—making use of the vast natural areas of Myakka River State Park and the Carlton Reserve near Sarasota. According to Jon M. Robinson, Park Manager, Myakka River State Park, \"Myakka River State Park is thrilled to be co-hosting the 2008 Swamp Stomp with The T. Mabry Carlton Memorial Reserve. It is a wonderful opportunity to show off the expansive public lands that are available in Sarasota County, while bringing a high quality adventure race to our community.\"

New Race Directors Jim and Lori Gabbert will be designing this year’s course, while Kip and Jessica Koelsch will assist with course design, vetting and race management—maintaining the high quality and challenging racing consistent with past Swamp Stomps. According to Jim Abbert, \"The course and parks are an outstanding example of all that Florida has to offer. Racers will experience, natural landscapes that are rarely seen by visitors. Competitors will visit restricted areas only opened for the race, private land with interesting features including an Indian mound and Swamps. Did I mention Swamps?\"
