Open Adventure Races into 2008

Anyone who enjoys a good run and a blast on their mountain bike needs to listen up, as Open Adventure is cranking up their programme for 2008.

Entries are already open for all events in 2008 – the increasingly popular Open5 series, the Open12 twelve-hour adventure race and the Open24 non-stop endurance fest.

The fast-growing Mountain Hardwear Open5 series proved to be a storming success in 2007 with over 350 competitors at the final event. With race venues across the north of England, competitors gain points by running and biking to checkpoints with the more distant locations carrying less points - competitors have 5 hours to score as many points as possible.

The first Open5 races take place on 27 January (North York Moors), 9 March (Yorkshire Dales) and 18 May (Lake District). Later in the year the new-format 08/09 series will run on the first Sunday in November, December, February, March, April and May.

In a break with tradition the Open12 and Open24 events are heading south, to the Peak District and Wales respectively. New terrain, new challenges. There’ll be cheaper entry fees if entering before 1st February.

For the truly committed, the hotly-contested Endurance Series consists of an Open5 event, the Open12 and Open24. In 2007 the top teams ended up unbelievably close, and this promises to be THE adventure race challenge for pairs next year.
